First Aid At Work Certificate


Course Aims

To enable candidates to provide fast and efficient immediate care to a colleague at their workplace following an injury or illness. This course complies with Health & Safety Executive (HSE) regulations.

All organizations must comply with Health & Safety (First Aid) regulations 1981. If a risk assessment identifies that First Aiders are needed, this HSE approved course is essential.

The course is 4 days long.

Day 1
Introduction to First Aid
First Aid in the workplace
The principles of First Aid and responsibilities of First Aider
Action in an emergency
Primary Assessment
Secondary Assessment
Breathing and circulation
Rescue Breathing CPR and Recovery Position
Respiratory disoders
Airway obstruction

Day 2
The circulatory system and circulation disorders
Introduction of causes of unconsciousness
Wounds and bleeding
Blood and blood loss (Shock)
Dressing and bandages (the use of)
Incident management
Rescue Breathing, CPR – Child and baby
Bites and Stings
Practical Sessions/Revision

Day 3
Burns and scalds
Injury to Bones, Dislocation Muscles and Joints
Poisoning
Incident Management
Spinal Injury
Recognition and Treatment of Poisoning
Eye Injuries
Effects of heat and cold
Practical Sessions/Revision

Day 4
Casualty Management
Resuscitation procedures
Revision of Incident Management
Final assessment by independent assessor


Course Certification

An HSE First Aid at Work certificate is awarded subject to completion of the course and satisfaction of the Instructor and the end of course practical assessments. This certificate has a 3 year validity. The refresher training must be completed before the expiry date of the certificate.


Fees

The course price is from £1300 per group of 12 people. This is inclusive of course materials and attendance certificate.
